Kick off Bloomsday Festival with a sojourn into Joyce country. Delving into Dublin’s southern suburbs, explore Joyce’s early formative years alongside the locations that became so central to his fiction. Stops will include South Dublin’s old Jewish quarter (‘Little Jerusalem’), Joyce’s birthplace in Rathgar and early childhood home in Rathmines, the Martello Tower in Sandycove, Mr. Deasy’s School at Dalkey, and Sandymount Strand. The tour includes admittance to the Irish Jewish Museum, where a talk will be delivered on the history of the Irish Jewish community, as well as the Martello Tower in Sandycove. The tour will stop for lunch in the picturesque village of Glasthule. Note: this tour will begin and finish at the James Joyce Centre: ticket does not include lunch.
